A student summer intern program will be revived for the next two summers due to a recent vote by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.
The Experiencing Cobb County Hands On program began in 2003 but was cut in 2008.
Community and county department requests have led to the renewal of this program for eight interns this summer and next.
Each intern will be paid $2,137.
Interns must be Cobb residents, at least age 17 with a 3.0 grade point average or higher, have taken the SAT or ACT college admission tests and plan to attend or be enrolled in a university or technical college.
They must work at least 10 hours each week but no more than 200 hours before Aug. 30, complete a development plan and participate in community projects.
