This weekend saw another outbreak of violence when three Baton Rouge officers were killed in a shooting match with a man who targeted police. The deaths came after an attack in Dallas which left five police officers dead.

According to Cobb County law enforcement, some residents have come out to show their support for the police.

In Acworth, police received “a delicious lunch from Publix, complete with an amazing cake!” A Facebook post showing the cake also said Acworth PD had received several “really awesome” visits from community members.

In Powder Springs, police got a visit from two residents who brought “awesome food” while they told officers how much they appreciated them.

From a Decatur student's call to end uniformed violence to a murder charge against an Atlanta cop accused of killing an unarmed black man who was not a suspect in any crime, the violence of this weekend happened against a backdrop of protestors calling for an end to police brutality in Atlanta and across the nation.
