The Cobb school board Wednesday approved a total budget of $1.24 billion for the 2011-2012 year. It includes two furlough days for all staff, and a mid-year salary step increase for eligible employees. The budget passed 4-2 because some board members had concerns over the sustainability of the budget in 2012-2013. The district's planned expenses are greater than its revenue, but the gap will be covered by savings from the current year.
