Cobb County officials have contracts to acquire five more parcels of park land. Cobb attorneys are in negotiations with owners of four other properties to buy more park land, according to a county statement. The value of these nine properties is estimated to be $10.6 million. Besides those properties, Cobb staff has ordered appraisals on three other potential park sites.

Cobb commissioners recently approved the purchase of two sites at 1101 Veterans Memorial Highway and a smaller parcel at 6800 Henderson Road to form a more than six-acre park in south Cobb. In October, the county purchased two parcels, comprised of 94 acres, off Burnt Hickory Road for $6.5 million, following the commissioners’ vote last year to issue the $27.4 million parks bond.
