The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to pay $1 million for a possible site for the new Cobb and Douglas Public Health-Smyrna Center.

Of that amount, $50,000 would be used for inspection and evaluation of the property at 3001 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.

The county may end the contract within the 45-day investigation period while determining its suitability for the new facility.

South Cobb Medical Building Venture is the seller.

If approved by the county, the Women, Infants and Children program will move to this facility this year with Children and Adult Health Clinical Services moving later after further renovations.

Funding will come from the 2016 special purpose local option sales tax.
