Cobb County’s Community Emergency Response Team program offers a new round of training sessions from 6 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday for seven sessions on Jan. 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29 and Feb. 3 at the Cobb County Emergency Operations Center, 140 North Marietta Parkway, Marietta.

Students must attend all sessions to complete the program.

They also must live, work or worship in Cobb, be over age 16 and pass a criminal history background check.

The program trains people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities.

When emergencies occur, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site.

CERT members also can help with nonemergency projects to help improve community safety.
