After nearly 10 years, Mabry Park will be constructed for around $2.8 million in East Cobb.
The unanimous decision to hire the low bidder Integrated Construction and Nobility Inc. was made Nov. 14 by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.
Funding will come from the 2016 local penny sales tax, also known as the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
In 2008, the 26.5-acre Mabry park was bought by the commissioners with funds authorized in the 2006 parks bond program.
In May 2011, the commissioners approved a master plan for the park with trails, picnic areas and community gardens.
Upon completion as a passive park at 4470 Wesley Chapel Road, Marietta, the initial one-time cost for maintenance tools and equipment for the park is estimated to be $22,230 and will be needed in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 budget.
Also beginning with the FY2019 budget, the ongoing annual costs are expected to be $73,122 in staff salaries and benefits and $31,800 in utilities and operational supplies for a total approximate operating cost of $104,922 each year.
