Democratic members of Cobb County’s state delegation will host a town hall meeting Feb. 21 to discuss the HOPE scholarship program for college students.
Gov. Nathan Deal is expected to announce cuts to HOPE and the state’s pre-kindergarten program in the upcoming week.
Reps. Alisha Thomas Morgan, along with Stacey Evans and David Wilkerson will discuss how the cuts will impact the county, its colleges and students.
HOPE serves about 200,000 college students and is funded by the Georgia Lottery, which has been unable to keep up with rising costs, demand and tuition increases.
The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. at Southern Polytechnic State University, 1100 S. Marietta Parkway in Marietta.
