Cobb to hold budget hearings in July

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will hold three budget hearings during July to hear from the community before their final vote.

Cobb Commission Chairman Mike Boyce will present his recommended fiscal year 2020 budget to the commissioners at 1:30 p.m. July 8 in the BOC Room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

Highlights of this year’s budget proposal include:

  • No millage rate increase for businesses or residents.
  • Merit-based pay raise for county employees.
  • Increased compensation for certified Public Safety personnel.
  • Continued improvements in capital maintenance, libraries and parks.

The three hearings on the proposed budget and the current year millage rate will be held at the same location at:

  • 9 a.m. July 9.
  • 6:30 p.m. July 16.
  • 7 p.m. July 23.
