The Cobb County Fire Lane Ordinance was amended last month to include a provision for student pick-up at schools. The ordinance vehicles to be in a fire lane for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the schools end time as long as a driver is behind the wheel.

The ordinance applies to public and private schools. Enforcement of the new provision begins April 9.

Fire lane violations will result in a $135 fine.
