Cobb Commissioners officially designated six open records officers in various county departments to handle all written records requests.

A state law passed this year requires jurisdictions to advertise the records officials and post the information online.

Cobb will have separate records officers for the police, fire and emergency services, 911, community development and transportation departments. The county's communications director, Robert Quigley, will handle all other requests.

The records officers were unanimously approved during this week's commission meeting.
