The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday to deny a land-use permit for a home for people recovering from alcohol and drug addictions.

Also opposed were the staff and the planning and zoning commission.

His House Recovery Residence Inc. made the request for 1793 Miller Drive.

Opposed were 10 in the audience who complained about the close proximity of the home to both Sprayberry High School and the Stillwater neighborhood playground and pool.

On behalf of the applicants F. Michelle Anderson Metcalf, Deborah E. Anderson Casteel and Joyce D. Anderson, Adam Rozen said the home is a transitional 12-month program but not a group home and not a halfway house.
