The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved a second employee wellness center on Tuesday to cost around $389,000. It will be built on the first floor of the Cobb County Building, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

This facility will include a workout area with cardiovascular and weight training equipment and a separate area designed for fitness classes.

If employees use the onsite facility, county officials are hoping to lower the increasing cost of health care to the county.

As happened with the first Employee Wellness Clinic at Powder Springs Station, this project will be funded fully from the Wellness Fund which receives funding from AFLAC reimbursements for payroll deductions of employee premiums and royalties from the Coast to Coast Prescriptions Drug Card Program.
