As a part of its community planning, neighborhood and business revitalization initiatives, the city of Jonesboro has passed a resolution to support and engage in the World Health Organization/AARP Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Network.

Age-Friendly Communities create physical and emotional environments that are supportive, nurture healthy aging, encourage self-care and engage older persons in a variety of activities that contribute to quality of life. AARP works with cities at the local level to enable them to be more supportive not only of older residents but for residents of all ages by tapping into national and global research, models and best practices.
