A 6-year-old girl who accidentally overdosed on prescription pills Friday is expected to be released from the hospital Monday, Channel 2 Action News reported.
She was life-flighted to a hospital Saturday after being found unresponsive inside a plastic playhouse in the Rock Springs mobile home subdivision, Carroll County authorities said.
Initial reports were that the child may have ingested an unknown quantity of various medications, including sleeping and anti-anxiety pills, according to sheriff's Captain Jeff Richards. Her parents were not at home.
"After finding the medication they [children] returned to the playhouse [in the child's yard] and began taking the capsules apart and pouring out the ingredients," Richards said. "At some point the victim swallowed some of the medication and then became sleepy at which time the friends reported the events to the child's grandmother where it had been staying."
The sheriff's office said the Division of Family and Children Services was called in to investigate the case.
