The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved the purchases of 15 new patrol vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office, and a pair of used sedans for the District Attorney’s Office.
The sheriff’s vehicles, all 2018 Dodge Chargers, will cost $479,196 total fully outfitted, according to a staff report to commissioners. They will consist of 10 patrol cars and 4 unmarked cars with V6 engines, and one unmarked patrol car with a V8 engine. They will replace existing vehicles being retired due to high mileage.
Shottenkirk Dodge submitted the lowest bids of three Dodge dealers for the three types of vehicles. Other companies bid to supply radios, mobile data terminals, inside equipment and graphics.
Separately, commissioners approved the $29,592 purchase of two, used, 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Limited Editions from Steve Rayman Chevrolet for use by the district attorney. Similar Malibus in the area ranged from $15,019 to $21,995 per vehicle, staff said.
