The Cherokee County School Board has set a public hearing to gather comments on 2018-19 attendance areas as it seeks solutions to overcrowding at Cherokee High School.

The meeting is to start at 6 p.m. Nov. 16, in the school board auditorium, 1205 Bluffs Parkway, Canton. A sign-up sheet for speaker slots will be in the lobby. The board will hear from as many as 15 speakers. Each will be allotted up to three minutes. Board members will listen and take notes but will not respond.

“We suggest that any groups working together to advocate for a specific solution designate a spokesperson to speak on the group’s behalf; the entire group is welcome to stand behind the spokesperson at the podium,” the district said in a statement. “We also suggest speakers bring a copy of their remarks to give to (district) staff, so the remarks can be copied and shared with the board for further review.”

The board is expected to vote on a solution at its Dec. 14 meeting. Prior meetings with residents produced four possible solutions, posted here: http://bit.ly/2ypJpeX
