The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has approved a $710,732 contract with the Atlanta Regional Authority to provide home-delivered meals, in-home respite care and other services to senior citizens.

Under terms of the contract for non-Medicaid Home and Community Based Services, ARC will disburse $394,754 in federal funds and $272,914 in state monies, while Cherokee is responsible for a $43,064 local match.b

The county serves about 260 seniors through the program, according to Tim Morris, director of senior services. The contract runs from July 1 to June 30, 2017 and is renewable for one year, funds permitting.
