The Cherokee County School District will offer free meals to youth up to 18 years old as part of the USDA Seamless Summer Option.

The federally funded program runs Mondays through Fridays, through July 22. All sites serve lunch, and two also serve breakfast. Children can participate in either or both at no cost.

All meals must be consumed at the four locations: YMCA Canton, 151 Waleska St., (8:30-9 a.m. breakfast; 11:30 a.m.-noon lunch); YMCA Woodstock, 201 E. Bells Ferry Rd. (8:15-8:30 a.m. breakfast; noon-12:30 p.m. lunch); East Gate Mobile Home Park, 6310 Bells Ferry Rd., Acworth (11:30-11:45 a.m. lunch); and Hidden Falls Mobile Home Park, 6359 Bells Ferry Rd., Acworth (10:45-11 a.m. lunch at the clubhouse; 11:05-11:20 a.m., lunch at the playground by the lake).

Almost one-third of Cherokee schoolchildren quality for free or reduced-price meals during the school year, and the Seamless Summer program gives them access to nutritious meals during the summer break.
