The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce’s “Leading by Feeding” community food drive is underway, pitting the Leadership Cherokee Classes of 2012-19 against each other to collect the most donations.

Last year's drive collected 3,100 non-perishable food items along with personal hygiene products, diapers, toilet paper and other goods, according to a chamber announcement. This year's collection will support MUST Cherokee, Never Alone and Papa's Pantry.

Each class is assigned a different drop-off point to leave donations — private businesses and public buildings in Canton, Holly Springs and Woodstock. For a list of drop-off destinations and the classes they're credited to: https://bit.ly/2oGv4ej

Those donating at the Cherokee County Chamber, 3605 Marietta Highway, Canton, can designate the class year or divide the donation evenly, officials said. The food drive, now in its second year, runs through the month of October. The winner of this year’s competition will be announced at the chamber’s “Good Morning Cherokee” breakfast in November.

“The purpose of this campaign is to support food pantries in Cherokee County who work tirelessly to support the residents of our community who need an extra hand,” said Pam Carnes, president and CEO of the Cherokee County Chamber.
