The Cherokee County Board of Education voted to sanction board member Kelly Marlow for violating a pair of board ethics policies. The board voted 5-2 that Marlow ran afoul of a policy placing board authority with the group as a whole, not individual members. The board also voted 6-1 that she violated a policy banning board members taking action compromising the board or administration. Both stem from a letter Marlow sent in June to the district’s accreditation agency, complaining about board member conduct. The board voted to have Marlow pay $3,600 to reimburse part of the hearing cost.
