The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved impact fee exemption requests for two possible new business projects in the booming I-75 and Ga. 92 area.

One sought to exempt more than $63,000 in fees for an as-yet-unnamed business for 110,800 square feet of 180,000 in the Majestic Realty development, bringing 120 jobs with a capital investment of $15.6 million. The other would exempt Jaipur Rugs from nearly $71,000 in fees for a 170,000 square-foot distribution facility, bringing 90 jobs and a capital investment of more than $11 million. That facility would settle in the county’s Cherokee 75 Corporate Park.

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development said neither project is a done deal, although one could be successfully negotiated by year’s end.

The Commission also OK’d four contracts totaling early $116,000 for renovations at the Cherokee County Justice Center, creating a new judge’s suite and additional offices.
