Last week, in the regular council meeting, the Chattahoochee Hills City Council agreed to adopt the fiscal year 2016 budget for the city, which outlines specific expenditures the city will undertake, prohibits spending more than the budget allows and projecting anticipated revenue to be received. The city also addressed a proposed rezoning of city property, changing the property from agricultural to community status, for a large-scale development plan. The plan was to lure outside business into the city and encourage residents to invest and build businesses of their own. During the public hearing portion of the meeting, five residents spoke in favor of the rezoning and four spoke against. Ultimately, most were in favor of residents starting businesses, but many were concerned about outside businesses being given unfair advantage over locals. After the public hearing closed, the city council voted to approve the city’s rezoning proposal.
