Georgia DOT will begin rerouting traffic today on State Route 347/Friendship Road in Braselton. Approximately 500 feet of Puckett Road closest to its intersection with S.R. 347 will be closed so the grade of Puckett can be changed to meet the new S.R. 347. The closure may take up to 21 days to complete around June 30.

Drivers will detour from Puckett Road to Dunbar Road, which changes names to Sardis Church Road to Thompson Mill Road to S.R. 347.

A traffic shift is also planned to move S.R. 347 from the quarry almost to Spout Springs Road to allow crews to rebuild the original lanes of S.R. 347 in the area.

The 7.97-mile, $38.4 million contract was awarded to E.R. Snell Contracting Inc. of Snellville. The entire project is scheduled to be complete Jan. 12.
