The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced changes that will affect how Lake Lanier visitors renew their annual passes and reserve campsites.

For those seeking to renew passes, the Army Corps advises on its Facebook page that its office hours at Lake Lanier have changed for the winter season. Passes can be purchased between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays), at the Project Office, 1050 Buford Dam Rd. Buford.

The offer has expired of a free pass for those who come in with a valid boater’s safety course certificate, the Corps said.

Also, the new online registration site for reserving campsites, https://www.recreation.gov/, should now be available after some initial start-up glitches. "Even then, it will take some time for the rangers and gate attendants to get used to this new system, so please bear with them," the Corps says.
