The city of Chamblee has tentatively adopted a new millage rate of 6.40 mills, which will require an increase in property taxes by 10.25 percent over the previous millage rate. Residents are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held at 6 p.m. today at the Chamblee Civic Center, 3540 Broad Street.
Two additional public hearings on this tax increase will be held, one at 11:30 a.m. and a final hearing at 6 p.m., July 7 at the Chamblee Civic Center. After the final public hearing, the millage rate adoption will be formally voted on.
This tentative new millage rate of 6.40 mills will result in an increase of .595 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be 5.805 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $225,000 is approximately $35.70 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $650,000 is approximately $154.70.
