The city of Chamblee has tentatively adopted a new millage rate of 6.40 mills for the General Fund which will require an increase in property taxes by 6.42 percent over the rollback millage rate.
All concerned residents are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held 6 p.m. June 29 at the Chamblee Civic Center, 3540 Broad St, Chamblee Georgia.
Two additional public hearings on this tax increase will be held at the Chamblee Civic Center 11:30 a.m. and a final hearing at 6 p.m. on July 6. After the final public hearing, the millage rate will be formally adopted.
This tentative new millage rate of 6.40 mills will result in an increase of .386 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be 6.014 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $237,054 is approximately $36.60 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $737,240 is approximately $113.83.
