Canton gets the jump on other cities participating in the free “Bring One for the Chipper” program by accepting Christmas trees for recycling starting the day after Christmas, Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Live trees without lights or decorations can be dropped off through the end of January at the Canton Collection Site, 2525 Ridge Road. (Tree collections in many other cities are planned for one day only, Saturday, Jan. 5.)

The Canton facility’s hours of operation, excluding holidays, are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The site is closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. and ordinarily is closed Wednesdays, but it will be open Dec. 26 for extra holiday collections.
