The city of Brookhaven has begun a street repaving project this week. City contractor HEH Paving will begin a road resurfacing project with Clairmont Place through July 19, weather permitting. Motorists should avoid parking on Clairmont Place during construction; instead using their respective driveways or the school east end parking lot.
Work crews for HEH Paving will mill the existing road and sub-grade the cement, which will require a minimum of seven days to cure and will remain exposed throughout that time. The compacted sub-grade should be suitable to drive on while it is curing with the exception of heavy loads such as big trucks or machinery. After the curing process is complete, asphalt will be applied and paved onto the sub-grade to complete the project.
HEH has also scheduled edge milling and paving Ashwood Court starting Tuesday; Oakforest Drive on Wednesday through Thursday; and Oak Forest Way on Friday. The city asks that residents not park on the streets on these dates, which can be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
