Lilburn Council Member Brian Burchik has resigned from his seat on the city council effective Jan. 1. Burchik, a Lilburn native and Parkview High School graduate, began his term of office in Jan. 2016. Prior to being elected to the city council, he served on the city’s planning commission.

His resignation comes with the announcement that he has accepted the position of Main Street Manager for the Lilburn Downtown Development Authority. The DDA joined Main Street America, a national program that helps small towns revitalize their downtown districts, in December 2017.

“Over the last year, my passion for Lilburn, and specifically the revitalization of our downtown district, has grown to the point where I began asking how I could work more directly on revitalization efforts,” said Burchik. “This personal curiosity coincided with the Lilburn Downtown Development Authority joining the Main Street America program.”

With less than 12 months remaining in his term, the Lilburn City Council vacancy will be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment by the mayor and/or council.
