Repairs to a gas line are complete after a car crash caused it to rupture and forced some residents to leave their homes in Clayton County.

“Repairs have been made, but we’re reinstating services to customers,” Atlanta Gas Light spokeswoman Meeka Parish told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The company was called to the scene after officers responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of Ga. 42 and Amerson Court in Ellenwood just before 5:10 a.m., Clayton police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

“It was discovered that the vehicle involved ... struck a gas main causing a major gas leak in the area,” she said.

The driver wasn’t hurt, but she was cited with failure to maintain lane, Marbury said. Roads in the area were shut down, but reopened before 9 a.m.
