Braselton’s Mayor and Town Council recently saluted the graduates of the town’s ninth annual Citizens Academy with applause and a certificate. The academy convened monthly from May through Oct. as citizens learned the workings of the town. Classes centered on town management, finances, police and court, library, roads, utilities, agencies and authorities and economic development.

Six citizens completed the academy: Richard Mayberry, Diane Edwards, Billy Edwards, Shelly Givens, Sandy Weinel and Hardy Johnson. Town manager Jennifer Scott coordinated the academy and said, “Organizing and instructing the Citizens Academy is one of the staff’s favorite things to do. We truly enjoy meeting new citizens, being able to answer questions and hear their ideas.”

Applications for the 2019 will be available in the spring.
