A new DeKalb County restaurant failed a health inspection recently with a variety of concerns.

The Cook Hub, located at 1804 Columbia Drive, Decatur, received a 63 on the check Nov. 20, according to the inspector's report.

Thomas Pursaud, whose sister opened the restaurant about a month ago, said the re-inspection will do better.

“The issues have been handled already,” he said Wednesday. “The head cook had taken the flu and was out.”

The inspector noted seeing an employee scratching his beard and then handling equipment, as well as an employee touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands.

Chemicals were stored with food products and cooking items.

Raw turkeys were thawing in the vegetable sink.

Restaurants that fail inspections are generally re-checked within 10 days.
