Ricardo Farfan, a Berkmar High School teacher and Georgia State University graduate, has been named a Local Physics Teacher Education Coalition Teacher of the Year.
Eleven Fayette County school bus drivers were named 'Fayette's Finest' after maintaining perfect attendance and a perfect driving record with no accidents or incidents, no new traffic citations, maintaining bus cleanliness, and turning in all documentation by the deadline: Wayne Langley, Angela Vernon, Mike Callahan, Tara Bradshaw, Mark Ballard, Lollie Dye-Harp, Lynette Bowles, Kiz Gresham, Doris Rockhill, Brenda Mask and Annette Taylor.
At their meeting on Aug. 16, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners presented a resolution commending Graham Bishop, Rachel Carlisle, Josef Scarboro and Madeline Wersal for their skill in the sport of archery. On April 28, the Forsyth County 4-H Recurve Archery Team placed first in Georgia at the 4-H State Target Challenge Weekend. They then represented Georgia this summer at the National Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Anthony Lindsey Jr. from Conyers earned a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in May.
Retired Educators Association Recognizes Students at Annual Awards Program
The Fayette County Retired Educators Association recognized six high achieving students this summer from the Fayette County Public School System at their annual awards program. Corben McEver of Rising Starr Middle, Miles Thornton of Flat Rock Middle, Sara Annis Ali of Bennett's Mill Middle, Sydney Brown of Whitewater Middle and Hannah Grace Seay of J.C. Booth Middle received the academic award, which recognizes students for their high standards of academic achievements, leadership qualities, character, and community service. FCREA awarded Christina Nguyen of Whitewater High a $1,500 scholarship.
