The Berkeley Lake City Council recently voted to set the 2019 millage rate at 1.889 mills, which is a 1.77 percent below the rollback rate.

Property owners can review a 5-year history along with the current year’s tax digest and levy at the city’s website: www.berkeley-lake.com.

By reducing the city’s millage rate, many property owners could see a slight decrease in property taxes. As an example, a home with a fair market value of $400,000 in 2018, would pay $320.80 in city property taxes. For the same home valued at $400,000 in 2019, the tax will be $302.24, which represents a 5.79 percent reduction in taxes year to year if the home is valued at the same amount in both years.
