The Austell City Council agreed recently to set permit fees and other rules for those wanting to film or photograph in the city.
For production companies, the fee is $300.
The fee is $50 for a one-time permit or $100 for an annual permit for portraits and scenic photography.
After submitting their mandatory application to film, production companies will need to add the city as an insurance policy rider for $1 million “for each occurrence and aggregate.”
The production company must notify affected business and property owners of their activity.
No vegetation in the public right-of-way may be removed, cut or trimmed without city permission.
The Austell Fire Marshal will have full access to any media production “to ensure safety for crew members, the public and surrounding properties.”
If roads are to be blocked or traffic disrupted “in any manner,” Austell police must be scheduled at a minimum of four hours.
Any clean-up costs by the city will be charged to the production companies and photographers.
They also are charged with cleaning up and leaving the right-of-way in a satisfactory condition.
