The City of Atlanta recently completed the transfer of ownership of the land on the east side of Northside Drive, including the Bobby Jones Golf Course and Bitsy Grant Tennis Center to the state of Georgia.
The state has entered into a long-term license agreement with a newly formed group, the Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation. The group is in a short-term contract with Mosaic Clubs & Resorts to manage the course while it raises funds for future course renovations.
Changes include redeveloping the golf course into a nine-hole reversible course with a practice facility and junior golf links, a new golf clubhouse, golf house for golf association offices and historic golf memorabilia, and a parking facility. Completing the multi-use PATH loop around the golf course is also part of the renovation plans.
The Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation anticipates closing the course for renovations in late 2017.
The tennis center will continue its operations under the management of Universal Tennis Academy as part of a long-term leaseback to the City of Atlanta.
