The Atlanta BeltLine Inc. recently announced its seeking statements of qualifications from firms interested in designing and engineering the Northeast Trail segment of Atlanta BeltLine corridor between Monroe Drive and MARTA’s Lindbergh Station. Design will be done in coordination with ongoing Georgia Power work between Westminster Drive and Mayson Street, according to a press release.
Design for Atlanta BeltLine trails includes the multi-use concrete path, retaining walls, vertical connections, stormwater management, signage, lighting, and accommodation for future light rail transit. Qualifications are due on March 29.
As with all Atlanta BeltLine projects, ABI will lead community engagement for the design process to be supported by the contracted firm.
Design is expected to begin this summer and last approximately 30 months. The segment of corridor between Mayson Street and Lindbergh MARTA will present the most difficult design challenge due to the configuration of I-85 and active rail, according to ABI. Funding for design is included in Atlanta Regional Commission’s 2018 recommendations for Transportation Improvement Program allocations.
