Acworth city officials plan to hold the last two of three public hearings on a possible tax increase - even though the 7.6 millage rate is expected to stay the same as it has been since at least 2014.

Those hearings will be held at 9 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. July 22 in the Council Chambers, Acworth City Hall, 4415 Senator Russell Ave., Acworth with a vote scheduled during the 7 p.m. July 22 meeting.

The city’s proposed 7.6 millage rate will require an increase in property taxes by 5.53 percent.

Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 7.202 mills.

The proposed annual tax increase for a house with a fair market value of $175,000 is about $27.86.

Also, the proposed annual tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $325,000 is around $51.74.
