The third suspect has been charged in last month's fatal shooting of a Clayton County liquor store clerk, Channel 2 Action News reported Tuesday.

James Hightower, 23, who was wounded and taken into custody at the scene of the incident, has been charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and probation violation.

He is one of three suspects charged in the Aug. 27 killing of Deon Causey, a clerk at Moe's Package Store on Mount Zion Boulevard in Morrow.

Authorities believe that Hightower, 22-year-old Otis Parker and 23-year-old Sheldon Brown robbed the store, and Causey was killed during an exchange of gunfire.

Parker, who police say shot Causey, and Brown also are facing murder charges.

Hightower, who officers say was shot by Causey, appeared in a wheelchair Tuesday before a Chief Magistrate Court judge, Channel 2 said. Officers reportedly said they found the stolen money in Hightower's possession when he was transported to the hospital.

Hightower is being held without bond in Clayton County Jail.
