The city of Roswell has gotten a $37,500 donation aimed at improving the city’s planned adult aquatics facility.

The Friends of the Roswell Parks and Roswell Ramblers presented the check to the mayor and city council members this month. It represents the first half of the groups’ $75,000 commitment to fund construction of a therapeutic whirlpool at the aquatics building. The facility is set to open adjacent to the Roswell Adult Recreation Center on Grimes Bridge Road early next year.

The 12,000-square-foot facility will include a 5-lane therapeutic swimming pool. zero-depth entry, whirlpool and shower facilities. Voters approved a 2012 bond issue financing basic construction, but the Roswell Ramblers and their 50-plus age membership base have spearheaded several projects aimed at adding additional features.
