Powder Springs plans code, zoning hearings

Powder Springs public hearings will be held this month and next on code amendments and rezoning and variance requests.

The Powder Springs Planning and Zoning Commission will hold its hearings at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and the city council at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 - both in the Council Chambers, Community Development building, 4488 Pineview Drive.

Amendments to the Unified Development Code concern general provisions, zoning and overlay districts, official zoning map, use definitions, specific provisions, architectural and site design review, access parking, loading, signs, trees, landscaping and buffers.

Powder River, LLC seeks rezoning from mixed use to medium density residential or mixed use with conditions on the north side of Marietta Street, east of New Macland Road and west of Siniard Street.

Also, Powder River, LLC requests a variance from allowable density and restrictions regarding residential development.

The city requires anyone who desires to speak at a public hearing to disclose campaign contributions to the Community Development Department five days before the hearings.
