Under a proposal now being considered in the Georgia House, land could be deannexed from cities as long as counties or other cities pursuing the land have a plan for services there.

House Bill 394 would require all landowners in the area up for deannexation to approve of the move, and it would apply only to property that had been previously annexed.

The bill is now before the House Government Affairs Committee for review.
