More than a dozen Fulton County police chiefs will meet next week to discuss a countywide approach to body cameras.
It’s the latest sign of a growing political consensus that cameras are needed to hold police and the public accountable in the wake of shootings of unarmed black men that have sparked protests from coast to coast.
Police chiefs from Atlanta and other Fulton County cities, local universities and other agencies will participate in Wednesday’s meeting. They may seek federal funding to implement their plans.
“I think it’s just part of the future” of policing, said County Commission Chairman John Eaves, who convened the meeting.
