Will the Gwinnett County town of Rest Haven finally get its way and cease to exist? We’ll know the answer Thursday.

The fate of the town and its 35 people hang on Senate Bill 427, which passed the state Senate last week, but awaits final approval in the House of Representatives. The bill got a second reading in the House on Tuesday, but Thursday is the last day of the legislative session.

Rest Haven was established in 1938 but has been trying to dissolve itself in recent years. Last year the General Assembly approved a bill that allowed nearby Buford to annex half of Rest Haven. This year's SB 427 would finish the job.
