East Point residents can no longer smoke in local parks.

The city council approved a measure that prohibits smoking in East Point’s parks and recreation areas.

The decision makes all Fulton County parks smoke-free.

In September, county commissioners voted to ban smoking the the 18 parks Fulton runs.

Those who smoke in county parks could be charged with a misdemeanor, fined $1,000 and spend up to 60 days in jail.
