When the legendary bank robber Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed bank, he replied: “Because that’s where the money is.” The now-famous but apparently mythical rejoinder seems to apply to the spate of pharmacy robberies taking place across Georgia these days.

Here’s a look at some opiate thefts from pharmacies around the state of Georgia.

As the opiate crisis rages on and Georgia clamps down on pill mills, thieves are going to a key source for medications to meet the insatiable demand for illicit prescription painkillers and other highly-addictive medicines.
