Clayton State University’s College of Business Accounting and MBA students are offering free tax help as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
Tax help is available to those who earn less than $54,000 a year and need help with the personal income taxes using Forms 1040EZ, 1040A and the simple 1040. The program does not provide help to self-employed people or people with out-of-state or small business returns.
The service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Clayton State College of Business on Feb. 6,13, 20 and 27 and March 19 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must bring or provide photo identification, social security cards, birth dates for all family members, wage and earning statements from all employers, interest and divident statements from banks and ohter relevant income and expenses.
Clayton State is the only university in Georgia that has participated in the VITA program for 26 consecutive years.
