The Atlanta City Council has approved the city’s plan to turn over 10 deeds to Atlanta Public Schools that have been the subject of a contentious legal battle between the two governmental bodies.

The properties, which include parcels in the Adair and Anderson Park communities, had been held by Mayor Kasim Reed as he sought to push the school district into developing an affordable housing policy for land it might sell. The district adopted such a policy at the end of last year.

APS on Wednesday said it has not yet received word on the city’s action regarding the deeds.

“Once an official communication has been received we will review it,” a spokeswoman said. “We look forward to receiving these deeds and all remaining APS deeds.”

The school system sued the city in 2015 over deeds to George Adair School on Catherine Street and other shuttered property the district wants to sell for about $1.3 million.
