The Cobb Schools Foundation has awarded dozens of scholarships to high school students.

Recipients of the 2016 Cobb Schools Foundation Academic Scholarships were awarded $1,000 based on academics, leadership, extracurricular activities and essay.

The foundation awards scholarships to two graduating seniors from each of the 16 Cobb high schools for a total of $32,000 in scholarships. This year 144 seniors applied for the scholarships, which is a record number for the foundation, according to a statement from the Cobb school system.

The scholarship recipients attended the Cobb Schools Foundation scholarship reception hosted by the Kennesaw Parks & Recreation Department at the Kennesaw Community Center last night.
